Some projects require a robust set of systems thinking tools to quickly answer the questions of why, what, and how? The Theory of Constraints (TOC) provides such a toolbox, which we augment with Scenario Planning, Appreciative Inquiry, Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
TOC begins with the premise that an organization or system is limited, at any point, by only one or two actual constraints — it could be a process, resource, sales orders, or even internal policies.
Once constraints are identified and prioritized, additional TOC tools are used to systematically eliminate them, one at a time. This "every step a firm step" approach minimizes disruptions while delivering the highest improvement ROI.
Speaking of Lean and Six Sigma, TOC is very useful when Lean or Six Sigma programs are "in flight" but needing a bit of additional focus or a faster approach to ideation and planning.
We offer TOC training for those who want to become their own consultants or to prepare for TOC certification exams.
We also offer the classic TOC 4x4, an integrated program of four days of customized TOC training followed, usually a week or two later, by a four day of cross-functional workshop focused on improving organizational performance in a key area, to develop a new market offer, or design a new business strategy.
Our TOC training has been designed for adult learners per ATD guidelines. This means participants use real work situations, it's hands-on, and its designed to improve interaction with peers — particularly those across organizational silos. We also use real work situations; our classes double as workshops.
To insure the security of sensitive information, our TOC training is normally conducted in private sessions for a single company.
